About

Interior Motive: building high quality camper interiors since 1994.

Simon Weitz began training as a cabinet maker in 1989.

Simon has worked on many important buildings including:

  • St. Paul’s Cathedral
  • The Royal Courts of Justice
  • Brentwood Cathedral
  • Waltham Abbey
  • St Albans Cathedral
  • British History Museum
  • Chelmsford Cathedral
  • The Royal Chelsea Hospital
  • Windsor Castle
  • Orford Church
  • St Andrew’s by the Water
  • The O2

When Simon left school in 1989 he began to work for a specialist staircase manufacturer and completed an advanced City and Guilds in Joinery. He later moved to Bakers of Danbury, a firm which specialises in Church restoration and Listed Building work. At Bakers Simon worked on furniture, windows and doors for many exclusive buildings. In the run-up to the millennium the firm was inundated with orders for village signs, and Simon carved many designs on these signs, some of which can be seen at Tendering, Earls Colne, Fingringhoe and Cold Norton. Simon also made the St. Andrew’s Memorial Cross at Layer de la Haye. Simon’s next move was to a firm specialising in Old English furniture, where he assisted in the construction of a variety of work, including: four poster beds, library rooms and extremely high class traditionally-made kitchens. All the work was bespoke and to the highest possible standard.

The start of Interior Motive.

In 2004 Simon decided the time had come to branch out on his own, combining his passion for quality with his hobby of automotive restoration, and Interior Motive was born.

Using the wealth of experience that Simon had gained from his previous work, he aims to provide high quality, professional workmanship. Because Simon personally constructs each interior in his Essex workshop using traditional methods, he can offer a unique bespoke service, designing every interior to satisfy each client’s individual wishes and needs. This individual service means that Simon can either construct an interior around a brand-new design, or he can recreate the simplicity of existing camper interiors to a high quality. Simon can also make individual cabinets to fit your existing interior. In fact, if your pockets are deep enough, Simon can build you the Starship Enterprise!

All interiors are individually crafted to your specifications and most take several weeks to complete, so please contact Simon to discuss your requirements.
